Since i last blogged
1. I went for a oil massage
2. We arrived in HK
3. We arrived home
4. We left for the Gold Coast
5. Arrive back home again
...all in the space of 2 weeks.
Oil Massage
The massage was great...especially the finale where once again i got my back cracked. I have to admit though, the best oil massage i got was in Ao Nang, Krabi - but we paid quite a bit for it..so it evens out.
At the end of it all, there was a bit of drama. Will was absolutely sure that he left his 1000baht note on the massage table. When i went back to find it though, it wasnt there. It was then that i proceed to search the entire room and even half accused the cleaning girl of stealing it.
Heading back down to the office, i repeated my findings to Will who then proceeded to accuse me of poor management before finding the note in his POCKET! Far out...that was embarassing!
Anyways, Ryan told us that his thai massage was great. Although i think he did scare the poor massage lady who had to endure his bodily releases! :P
Hong Kong
With the time difference and all, we arrived in Kowloon Hong Kong just past midnight. Our hotel was in a great location smack bang in the main shopping and bar district. Unfortunately the flight tired us out so we called it a night.
The next few days were spent exploring the city sights and when i say sights i really mean the shops. Using their MTR system was great. It makes me dread boarding our cityrail trains! The wait time for the MTRS were no longer than 3mins, plus with the food and drink bans...the trains were very clean. What a disgrace CityRail looks! On top of that, they have these cards called Octopus cards where u put credit onto the cards and it takes out money when u reach your destination. Not only that, but the cards can be used anywhere. You can use the credit at 7-elevens and supermarkets! Why cant we have such a good system?
The only bad side of Hong Kong was getting jipped due to our lack of cantonese and dress sense. We came there expecting to buy lots but unfortunately the exchange rate wasnt so great and in the end...we had more money than we needed to spend.
On one of the last nights we finally headed up to see The Peak...which is the highest point in Hong Kong. We took a tram up this steep hill and then took a few shots by the view. For some reason, alot of the shots look fake! haha.
Bangkok
With our hong kong journey coming to an end, we arrived back to bangkok to prepare for our journey home. Whilst at the airport, we went crazy duty free shopping with all the left over hong kong money we had. Ended up buying 4 perfumes, 2 bailey bottles and various little items. At least everyone was happy when we got home! :)
Home
Coming back from our journey was a somewhat sad but welcoming experience. I really missed home this time round-not sure why. I guess i missed travelling with friends. Dont get me wrong, travelling with Will was great...i just need a balance.
The day i come back home...i slept like a log. The combination of lack of sleep and the luxurious feel of my bed just did it! Sorry for all the missed calls guys!
It wasnt long before i started getting into the rhythm of things that i had to pack and get ready to go again. This time...to QLD. I didnt have time to do my washing cause of the bad weather...so it meant a whole new suitcase to pack.
Gold Coast
We arrived to the gold coast in one piece. Our hotel wasnt as 5-star as we had hoped...but it was still nice and clean. I'd say it felt more like a 4 star hotel but not to worry, we had all the facilities to take full advantage of.
The first few days were spent relaxing so we could plan and book the other activities. The original plan was to go to movie world on the thursday...but that didnt pan out cause we ended up walking from Jupiters casino to Surfers Paradise at 2am that night...we missed a bus and didnt want to wait an hr for it to arrive! I tried to take everyones mind off the long walk by singing...so I ending up enjoying the walk...but i think i was the only one that did! :P
The next day was spent in the pool, at the beach..in the spa..followed by shopping! The boys spent some time on the tennis courts while us girls went surf crazy. Nothing like a summer sale!
Finally we headed to movie world on friday. Boy was it hot! My favourite rides had to be Wild Wild West and Scooby Doo! The ride i hated was lethal weapon...its really painful to the head.
Saturday we had another lazy day to recover from the walking we had to do at Movie World. Did alot of swimming. I spent the night with Mindy and the others. We decided to go clubbing at 12.30am! The long was really long surprisingly! The music was slow to warm up...but in the end it was ok.
We didnt get back til around 3-4am QLD time. And then we had dreamworld the next day! Boy was i tired. Dreamworld was great fun though. My favourite ride had to be the Giant Drop. I heard the Claw was the best...but i bailed on that cause it was one of the last rides and i was too drained...tired and riden out to want to go on anymore rides. I also missed the Cyclone...but i heard it was crap anyways. Tower of terror was something else...it ended before i even had a chance to get scared.
That night..we had spanish for dinner and then had an early night for kayaking and snorkeling at 6.30am!
Kayaking and snorkeling was great fun! I saw heaps of fish i didnt even know existed..and got soo excited at times that i'd swallow water thru my snorkel! haha. After kayaking, cause we had to wake up so early...we all rested til about lunch time and didnt head out again til dinner time. We order fish and chips...but as peter said it was an "error of judgement" cause we ended up throwing half the order out-we just couldnt fit it.
The night was ended with some cards and drinking games before it was back to packing to leave. Overall, i've developed a nice tan and had a great time. I just miss home bad!
Today is my first day at home and i'm loving it. Esp since its soo hot. Hope everyones had a great summer!
