If you havent already heard...i am now unemployed. Things happen for a reason, we just have to find ways to cope with the hand of fate.
Work has been bugging me for quite awhile now to increase my hours and work on a full-time status. However, with 2 subjects lingering...i just couldnt committ. It just wasnt working out. With the exams looming, i knew i'd be needing time away...not to mention break the news about the fact that i'd be leaving them soon anyways.
So it was decided that right then and there i was to terminate my role at Decide. After all, i'm a casual and they have no obligation to inform me or keep me on.
In some ways it was great timing. I know it sounds like an excuse, but I've felt that i've outgrown my role at Decide for awhile now and i've pretty much lost the motivation to go to work. The only thing that was keeping me there was the money. I had intended on leaving Decide at the end of November, but in retrospect, this was great timing. I have lots of time to concentrate on making sure that i graduate and prepare for my trip to Europe & Thailand in December.
The unexpectedness more than anything upset me the most and i was unprepared to say my goodbyes to everyone. Its probably one of the hardest things i've done in awhile....(other than trying to sit through my HCI classes =P). Everyone was really surprised but also supportive too. Most of them knew i had another job to go next year and said it was better for me that i move on anyways. I am no longer the youngest person working at Decide Interactive.
Regardless, this event has given me an new look on life. I realise how much more i want to do with my life and all the things i've been missing out on since i've been working - heck uni days are great! Theres so much i could be doing with my time. I've set more lists and goals for myself than i've done in over a year! Working ages a person dramatically...Time to enjoy my youth and act my age (please dont comment on that one)! A bit of my freedom at long last! :)))
