My short-term goal: to gain a graduate position for next year
My long-term goal: to travel the world
Other than the usual husband, house, car and 2.4 kids thats whats on my mind right now. I cant see longer than 10years down the track but i dont think my long-term goal is going to change. I believe that we work to follow our passions. For some it means loving what you do and gaining recognition for it. While for others, it means having a steady job and income.
For me, i think its a combination of...
1. Being able to do something i love
2. Being recognised for it
3. Having the opportunity and funds to do things non-career related
I believe there is more to life than work and i'll throw my heart into achieving all 3 aspects. So now i ask, whats more important to you? Having that income...? Or doing something you love?
This must be a weird post from me... but doing all these graduate recruitment applications has really made me think of the future and where i want to go. I wonder if anyone can accurately predict where they are going to be in 5 years time?
Anyways, onto my weekends. I havent had the chance to blog in the last 2 weeks, so a brief recount.
Played basketball with Hana, Sarah, Poh, Ken, Long, King, Hieu, Thao, Ian, and Will last sunday. I think the teams were quite even. We started playing full-court... but i think that was a bit stressful considering its been awhile since we all played. Outstanding players were Ryan, Sarah, and Will. However, credit should also go out to Long who had to use his strength rather than his height to get his hands on the ball. All up.. it was a fun day. It was strange how it was storming in my area yet nice and sunny where we played.
I've been on a dvd fest in the last week or so... unfortunately for Will its been a chick fest. View from the Top, Down with Love, and Daredevil (just to even things out). Personally i found them all entertaining... but then again, i'm easily entertained..
Yesterday - Sunday
-------------------------
- Went shopping at Stockies and bumped into nel and vida
- Zoom juice is yuck
- Had dinner at Black Stump - mash potatoes is yum
- i saw 50 First Dates with Will last night. It was pretty funny... in the true Adam Sandler/Rob Snider manner. Its a light comedy that requires no thinking.
- I think i'm turning into a Jennifer Garner fan rather than simply an ALIAS fan. I saw the preview for "13 going on 30" and the ad for the ALIAS PS2/X-box game. I want an PS2 just so i can play that game. Should i save for one? Hmm.
Saturday
-------------
- Went shopping with An and Dad
- Gym and swimming at Will sisters' apartment
- Went to Hounh's 21st bbq - we had pig on a spit! Will and i arrived late, so luckily for us, the pig was unrecognisable by the time we got there. The boys spent most of the night by it picking what they could. Not to mention the fact that it was warmer next to it. Caught up with Linda and Tessa. And heard enough sky-diving stories from Linda to convince me that i will do it sometime this year.
- Took advantage of daylight savings
Anyways, thats all i can afford to recount for now. Take care! =)
